Happy Halloween

Lydia asked to be a clown for Halloween. I was a little hesitant at first and even tried to talk her out of it. But, the more I thought about it over time I realized it was a fabulous idea. I had so much fun making her costume that I decided to make all my girls clowns. I mostly used scraps and trim my mom and I had on hand. I had just as much fun making the hats as the dresses.

Poor Lydia was sick all week. She missed all her parties. Luckily we found out yesterday that she has strep throat. We got her meds and she'll be good to go for trick or treating.

Grayson wanted to be a skeleton. I tried to talk him out of it as well, I'm a mean mom. He persisted, so this is what I did. He wanted him to paint his face white- he said that was too spooky.

I dressed up as a candy corn for the school and primary parties.

Fashion Remix

I got as close as I'll ever get to experiencing Project Runway this weekend. My cute sister Shelly participated in a Fashion Remix competition. Interior Design Companies were paired with fashion designers to create outfits from different interior design textiles. It was amazing to see the creativity in the different outfits.

Baby Animals

We went to the zoo this week to see all the new baby animals, Especially the new baby elephant. I loved her, we all did. The zoo has had a few babies in the last couple months. Now that it's fall and the crowds are gone it's a great time to visit.

Jared bought season tickets for the Aggies and I thought he was crazy. I didn't want to break his heart so I agreed to try one game with the whole family. To my surprise we had a great time. I loved it. Honestly it was almost a perfect day. If only those Aggies could figure out how to win. Lydia and Kate were great cheerleaders. I'm playing with the idea of trying it again next week. We'll see what the weather looks like.

GO AGGIES!

I made Kate and Clair Aggie onesies right before leaving. I used an iron on transfer with a picture off the internet. I'm sure Jared thought I was crazy, but it was super quick and I think they look adorable.

Kate's hair was getting to straggly so I chopped it. It was her first real hair cut. I had a hard time cutting her baby curls off, but I think it looks much better.

I've noticed I have a bad habit of cutting my girls hair right before church. I don't know why but that is when I hit my breaking point and off it goes. Not good since we are usually late and who knows one of these days I could make a really big mistake.

Scarecrow Festival

Lydia's dance class was asked to perform at the Scarecrow Festival at Thanksgiving Point. She did a great job and we all loved the Festival. They had so many things to do I think we might make it a family tradition to go down.

My kids can't get enough of the blow-up slides. They were in heaven.

Lydia would wrap herself around Grayson while waiting in line. It makes me laugh because it reminds me of teenagers at Lagoon. I wonder how long it will take him to realize it's not so cool to have your sister hanging all over you.

Bad Tooth Fairy

We've been loosing a few teeth around here and tooth fairy is having a hard time keeping up with things.

Lydia lost a tooth on Thursday she put it under her pillow. The tooth fairy somehow forgot and didn't come that night. I explained that she probably didn't come because Grayson also had a loose tooth that he was going to loose any minute and she wanted to visit both at the same time.

Sure enough Grayson finally lost his tooth Saturday morning. It had been dangling by a thread for days (so gross). He ran into our room to announce that it had fallen out. I jumped up realizing the tooth fairy forgot Lydia again. She was still asleep, so I tried to make the switch. But I couldn't find the tooth. In the process I woke her up, I knew I would. I told her I was just seeing if the tooth fairy had some yet.

When I asked her where her tooth was she said it was by her rock. Where is that? I then told her she had to put her tooth under her pillow so the tooth fairy could find it, she would have to wait another night. She replied, "It's okay mommy, I have enough money." Someday she'll realize all her coins aren't a lot of money.

This morning I woke up to "Mommy, the tooth fairy didn't come again and I put my tooth under my pillow." NO...I forgot again. I told her to wait a bit since the sun wasn't up yet. After distracting both Lydia and Grayson the tooth fairy made the switch. Actually Grayson's tooth was nowhere to be found so a dollar was left anyways. He didn't say anything about her not taking the tooth, so I am assuming it is lost somewhere. Fun.

The best part is we are still expecting three more teeth in the next little while. Man this is getting expensive. I never realized I would pay over a hundred dollars for my kids gross teeth. And what do I do with their teeth?

MAKING STRIDES

Against Breast Cancer.

The girls and I walked with my family in support of my aunt De this weekend. My aunt is battling breast cancer now and is an amazing survivor. We love you De and haven't stopped praying for you.

Kate took her job of holding this sign up very seriously and kept it up most of the walk.
